Mrs McKeown Update Tuesday 26th May

26 May 2020 (by Martin Coyne (m.coyne))

As guidance from Government continues  to change so do our plans for the phased reopening. More Key workers are returning to their place of work so inevitably schools will be taking in their children for the emergency childcare as originally laid out at the beginning of lockdown.  This means more space in school will be needed and more staff to support. Our plan of opening for the  three years groups highlighted has now had to be altered to still make sure we have enough space and staff to support our children safely and appropriately. Therefore the Governors and I feel it was right to delay the phased reopening until 8th June as this will give us and you as parents more chance to adapt  plans in line with changes put forward by Government.

Our intention now is to start with Year 1 from week beginning 8th June but only on Wednesday , Thursday and Friday and the same days for wb 15th and 22nd June. This would allow the children  to have three weeks in school . Mrs Calvert will be working on the new groupings and will be in touch when done. Our start times for Year 1 will be 9.15 until 2.45 with a 45 minute lunchtime.

For weeks beginning 29th June, 6th July and 13th July Year 6 will have the last three weeks of term with the same three days. Mrs Worden will be in touch with you re. groupings nearer the time.
This means  we do  not intend to open for Reception class.
Thank you to all those parents who have already let us know of their decision to send back or not send back their child. This  will make it easier to set the groups.
Once again thank you for your patience whilst we try and follow the everchanging guidance from Government.
As always please do not hesitate in contacting me for any questions you may have. At the end of the week I will send photos through to show where we would like you to drop off and pick up your Year 1 child.
Take care and keep in touch.
Mrs McKeown
