Mrs McKeown's Update Tuesday 5th January 2021

5 January 2021 (by Martin Coyne (m.coyne))

Good morning to all parents/ carers

First of all thank you for your patience and understanding - again .
Today school staff are working together to make plans to enable this next part of your child's time at Longsands as enriching as possible. Can I urge you to take note of the stay at home message from our Prime Minister last night and only use critical care worker provision at school if you can't work from home or your shifts do not allow it. It is important you only send your child if there are no other means of keeping them at home . The children who have to come into school will remain in their class bubbles unless of severe staff shortages . The teacher or TA will be supervising your children whilst remote learning is planned for those children staying safely at home . Children in school will have access to this learning also . There will be days when your child's teacher will be working remotely from home . For those critical workers who need to send their child into school I will be asking you on a Friday to indicate their attendance at school for the following two weeks . Could you let me know if you are intending to take up the offer of your key worker place this week and I will be in touch on Friday for the following two weeks.  This will enable us to make the necessary arrangements for cover in class . Expectations for children to fully engage in remote learning are higher this lockdown and we do need all children to access via Seesaw . By now you will all know how this works but if you have any questions please contact your child's teacher .
We do have a limited number of devices in school that can be borrowed . These have been provided partly by Government . These devices will initially be made available to those children in the vulnerable category . If you are borrowing a device you will need to pick it up from school and accept you are responsible for taking good care and returning to school in good condition . These children will be contacted separately today .
I will obviously be in constant contact during this half term and wish you and your families luck . Keep safe
Mrs McKeown
