Longsands CP School COVID-19 Update

 

As promised here is an update following yesterday’s Prime Ministers briefing here is an update from School:

 

  • School remains open for the time being
  • Parents who wish to keep their children away from school during this time may do so. Attendance will not be monitored for the rest of term
  • All public assemblies at school are now cancelled
  • We currently have 2 families who are self-isolating, at home, after developing the advertised symptoms. These are at the time of writing unconfirmed symptoms and we will update on these when we receive more information
  • There will be no Sporting Events between schools until further notice
  • All clubs at the school are now cancelled until further notice (Ballet and Church club)
  • No unnecessary visitors will be allowed into school
  • We have had an industrial team of cleaners in to deep clean the school last Thursday
  • Toys in Reception class are being cleaned daily
  • We are continuing a stringent hygiene route with children (more hand washing)
  • All Staff and Children are being continually monitored for symptoms
  • Vulnerable staff are being advised to self-isolated
  • We are asking you to observe social distancing in the playground when picking up and dropping of children at school, in particular for elderly grandparent and vulnerable adults

 

The government have updated the self – isolation protocol.  If any member of a household develop the symptoms of the virus the whole household are now advised to self-isolate for 14 days.

 

We understand that this is a very difficult and unclear time and we will work with parents, staff and the local authorities to ensure the health and safety of your children and our staff.  We would like to thank each and every parent/carer for their cooperation and understanding at this time.
