Year 6
Welcome to Year 6!
Welcome to your final year at Longsands — what an exciting journey you have ahead! Year 6 is a special time where you’ll take on new challenges, grow in confidence, and show everyone the amazing role models you’ve become. You’ll have the chance to take on extra responsibilities, enjoy fun projects and trips, and make lasting memories with your friends.
We can’t wait to see all the brilliant things you’ll achieve this year as you get ready for your next big adventure in secondary school!
In Year 6, we are preparing children to become independent and take ownership of their learning, both at school and at home, ready for their transition to high school. We ask that children read their home reading book at least 3 times a week to support children with their comprehension and reading speed. Homework is set weekly and currently links to the CGP revision books. Please feel free to speak to your class teacher if you need any support or guidance with this.
PE days are Mondays and Thursdays. Please ensure children bring their PE kits on these days.
Wearing correct uniform is an integral part of belonging to our school community. Please ensure children wear the correct uniform each day. Wearing correct uniform ensures that pupils maintain the high standards we expect from the moment they
walk through the door.
We value the partnership between school and home and work together with children and families to ensure every child feels happy, supported and ready to learn. If you need to contact your class teacher for any reason, please contact us via SeeSaw and we will aim to respond as soon as possible.
We look forward to sharing this exciting year with you as children complete their final year at Longsands!
Thank you,
Mrs Weston and Mrs Lowe
