Mrs McKeown's Update Thursday 30th April

30 April 2020 (by Martin Coyne (m.coyne))

Thank you to those parents who have let me know their requests for places over the next two weeks. It does make it easier for me to sort rotas to make sure we have enough staff for the number of children .

The teachers are working on sending through to you all a video message via Seesaw. This will be done weekly. A number of you have mentioned school setting up a Zoom account for the children. At this time I am saying we will not be opening accounts. There is a good deal of mixed information about Zoom at the moment including numbers of hacking and safeguarding issues . I would not want to have a school account if anything like that did happen. However, if you would like to set up an account  between friends privately  there is nothing to stop you doing this . As the weeks go by it is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain working from  home and looking after families . Longsands staff are with you in this and know the change  in routine that is required at home. Hopefully, over the next week we may have some indication on how school will reopen. The social distancing  aspect for the children will be the most difficult to adhere to and practice.
Keep in touch and look after yourselves.
