Mrs Mckeown's update Thursday 28th Jan 2021

28 January 2021 (by Martin Coyne (m.coyne))

Potentially schools can reopen from March 8th but we will find out more after half term. There is obviously a good deal of work to do before then to get the rates of infection down. Longsands staff are now part of the national scheme of lateral flow twice a week  testing. Staff have been advised to test on Monday and Wednesday mornings before school and have to report the results to myself by 7.30 If staff have a positive result they will have to self isolate and take a full test to confirm the results. I will send you a text by 8.00am if your child's bubble has to close for the period of isolation  which at the moment is 10 days .This testing will start next week .  I would still like you all to be extra vigilant with your families health and any signs of symptoms to take the appropriate steps to stop the transmission. The main symptoms continue to be high temperature , coughs and loss of taste and smell but other symptoms can include aches and pains, fatigue , headache and stomach upsets. I am sure you will support us with this .
